How to search for services on Live Well Oxfordshire
There are different ways to find the information you need on Live Well Oxfordshire. How you choose to do it may depend on whether you already have a good idea of what you want, or if you simply want to browse for inspiration.
Using the keyword search
If you already know the type of service that you’re looking for, or even the name of the service provider that you want, you can use search box on the home page to search for key words. Once you hit ‘go’, it will return all of the services that match your key word.
If you click on ‘show more options’ in the search box, you can provide even more detailed search criteria to refine your search to what you are really interested in.
Searching by category
You may not have a clear enough idea of what you want to do a key word search. If that’s the case, or you just want to generally browse the services available, you can browse by looking at the different categories.
On the home page of Live Well Oxfordshire, there are a set of categories such as ‘Looking after someone’ and ‘Living at home’. If you click on these boxes, they will take you to another a set of sub-categories that contain services. You can simply browse the site by looking in all of the different categories until you find something of interest.
Even if you do know what you want to look for, for example independent financial advice, you can browse through the categories to see what’s available. In this instance, you would look through the ‘Money Matters’ category to find something that suits.
How to filter your search results
There are times when you complete a search that it returns a high number of results. You can narrow these down according to what you want by using the filters.
When you complete a search, to the left side of the results will be an orange box called ‘Refine your search’. You can use this to define what you want to look at in more detail by selecting:
- Location of the service
- Distance in miles from that location
- The number of results that is shown per page
- The category of services that you are interested in
- The type of service
- Which postcode area the service is in
As you select more ‘filters’, the search results returned will be only those that match all of the information you’ve asked for. This is a really helpful way to narrow down the choices to only those services that provide what’s really important for you.
What information will you find about services?
When you find a service that is of interest to you, you can click on it to find out more information. Every page will be different, but will typically show you the following information:
- A description of the service provided
- Who the service is for
- A map of where the service is located
- Contact details for the service, such as their website, email address and phone number
For some services, there will be additional information available. For example, care home services may indicate whether they allow pets or offer different languages.
How can you contact a service?
We’ve asked services to provide their contact details so that you can contact them directly. Most services have these contact details on the right hand of their service profile pages. This will typically be their website, email address and telephone number. You can use any of these contact details to contact the service provider directly.
